Abstract: Antibiotic resistance is a global health crisis, threatening the effective treatment of bacterial infections. Antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) have been developed to combat this issue by promoting the judicious use of antibiotics. This essay explores the role of ASPs in addressing antibiotic resistance, focusing on the current literature and evidence-based practices. The methodology includes a review of recent studies and guidelines on ASP implementation, followed by an analysis of key findings and discussions on the efficacy of these programs. Limitations and recommendations for future research are also discussed, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in the field of antimicrobial stewardship. Ultimately, ASPs play a crucial role in preserving the effectiveness of antibiotics and protecting public health.
