Abstract: The primary focus of cellular communication in the present day is to meet the demands of channel bandwidth and high data rates required for numerousapplications. With the release of LTE, LTE-Advanced & future towards 5G &beyond. Multiple antenna technologies like beamforming & multiple input multipleoutput (MIMO) are expected to evolve and play an important role in meeting the requirements. Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology has significantly enhanced wireless communication systems, particularly in Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Fifth Generation (5G) networks. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of MIMO technology, its implementation in LTE and 5G, and the improvements it offers. We explore various MIMO techniques, compare the performance metrics of LTE and 5G, and discuss the implications for future wireless communications.
