Abstract: Data encryption and compliance regulations have become increasingly critical, as organizations strive to protect sensitive information and adhere to legal and industry standards. One of the key challenges in this domain is the choice between traditional File Transfer Protocol and the more secure Secure File Transfer Protocol for data transmission. Moreover, the consequences of non-compliance can be severe, leading to substantial financial losses, reputational damage, and legal repercussions. This research paper aims to explore the nuances of data encryption, compliance regulations, and the comparative advantages of FTP and SFTP, while also addressing the challenges of data masking techniques and the associated troubles.
