Abstract: With the growth of the e-commerce sphere, analysing clients’ customer reviews and social media impressions have been termed as one of the most important tools of business – sentiment analysis – the process of extracting and understanding the inner meaning of emotions expressed in text. This piece discusses different techniques of AI based sentiment analysis in e-commerce lexicon based, Machine learning, deep and transformer neural networks. A review of major applications is provided such as real-time sentiment analysis, categorization, recommendation systems, and enhancement of product design. The authors also summarize practical experiences while developing a tweet-sentiment scoring tool for Snapdeal, analysing what issues still need to be tackled and what directions are possible for further development.
