Abstract: The Textile Industry uses many different kinds of fibers as its raw materials. Some of these fibers were known and used in the earlier civilization as well as in modern times. Cotton is ideal for blending with natural and manmade fibers. Nettle is found in the tropical regions like Nilgiris, Anamalai Hills and Himalayas. The stem of the plants are cut 10 cm above the ground. . Fibers were extracted using water retting method. The fibers are then opened, blended and cleaned. After cleaning, the Nettle fibers are blended with natural and manmade fibers in different composition. The blended fibers underwent the following process like carding, drawing, spinning, warping, sizing, reeling and weaving. The nettle blended fabrics has been taken for various testing and studied the properties of the nettle blended yarns and nettle blended fabrics.
